Ag Naftalan Pharm Group Team
SCIENTIFIC POTENTIAL OF THE PHARMACOLOGICAL GROUP OF «AĞ NAFTALAN»
Scientific potential of our pharmacological group is linked to the activities of leading specialists of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives operating under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences - Doctor of Chemistry, Professor S.A. Mammadov, and Ph.d. in chemistry I.Sh. Huseynov and N. Ladokhina

SABIR MAMMADOV
Doctor of chemistry, professor

S. Mammadov was born in 1937. In 1961, he graduated from the faculty of chemistry of the Azerbaijan State University (ASU) and started to work as an engineer at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry under the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR. In 1947-1967 he was a postgraduate student at ASU. Since 1977, he had served as a scientist, then senior scientist and subsequently, laboratory head at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives.
S. Mammadov defended his Ph.D. work in 1975. At the 1991, he defended his doctoral work. He is a PhD and professor of organic chemistry and chemistry of oil.
The main direction of scientific activity of S. Mammadov was devoted to the study of functionally replaced sulfonamides. He studied the reaction of N-halogen sulfonamides with unsaturated hydrocarbons and polymers and based on that, investigated a novel process for the derivation of sulfonamides.
S. Mammadov is a trailblazer at developing new ways of heterocyclization of functionally replaced sulfonamides and poli-amino-sulfonamides. He’s also got bioactive hetero-sulfonamides of different compounds, having antimicrobial and bactericidal action.
One of the directions of scientific activity S. Mammadov carries out is the extraction of optically active, degummed naftalan fractions ("White Naftalan oil”), having a strong biological effect and based on the kinetics of diffusion and application of modern technologies, as well as the manufacture of various balms and creams on the basis of these fractions.
Mammadov is the author of 140 scientific papers and more than 40 patents. 11 postgraduate students defended their dissertations under his guidance, and two doctoral students are currently writing their research papers for the title of Doctor of Science under his supervision.
For his successful activities and scientific legacy Mr. Mammadov was awarded with “Progress” medal and “The best scientist-patriot” award.

NINA PETROVNA LADOKHINA
Ph.D. in chemistry, associate professor

N. Ladokhina was born in 1962. In 1984, she graduated from the faculty of "Technology of Organic Compounds" of Lviv Polytechnic Institute on specialty of "Chemical technology of biologically active compounds", with the qualification of engineer-chemist-technologist. In the same year she was admitted to the Institute of Chemistry of Additives operating under the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR as an engineer. In 1989, N. Ladokhina enrolled in graduate school, in 1993 - defended her thesis, and continued her research in the direction of synthesis of functionally replaced sulfonamides and new ways of obtaining derivatives of heterocyclic sulfonamides.
In 2006, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan has awarded the academic title of associate professor to N. Ladokhina. Being the author of more than 100 scientific papers, in 2013 she got enrolled for her doctoral studies and started to work on a thesis, dedicated to the issues of synthesis , chemical transformations and characteristics of functionally replaced aryl sulfonamides.
Together with her supervisor S. Mamedov, N. Ladokhina is also engaged in the process of extraction of optically active, degummed naftalan fractions basing the entire process on the kinetics of diffusion and application of modern technologies, as well as the manufacture of various salves and ointments on the basis of these fractions.

ISA HUSEYNOV
Ph.D. in chemistry

Huseynov was born in 1957 in the Balakan region of Azerbaijan SSR. In 1982, he graduated from the faculty of "Technology of Organic Compounds" of Lviv Polytechnic Institute on specialty of "Chemical technology of biologically active compounds", with the qualification of engineer-chemist-technologist. In 1982-1991 he worked at the institutes of Chemistry of Additives and Theoretical Problems of Chemical Technology, both of which are operating under the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
In 1993, he got a degree of doctoral candidate of chemical sciences. In 1991-2005 he worked in various chemical, pharmaceutical, industrial and commercial enterprises in Baku.
In 2010, gathering a team of professionals with valuable scientific and technical knowledge and extensive experience in the relevant field, Huseynov established the Pharmacological group of «Ağ Naftalan» at «Ağ Naftalan» LLC. His aim was streamlining the industrial process for producing optically active white naftalan oil from crude and waste oil by omitting from their composition tannins and resinous compounds. Currently, he is also the leader of the group.
With the direct participation of I. Huseynov, a new industrial process for the preparation of "White Naftalan", based on the kinetics of diffusion method was discovered, a new industrial unit - "Vertical white naftalan cabin" was invented (this invention functions in accordance with the principle of pressure atomization and with the direct use of "White Naftalan"). These innovations have been patented both in Azerbaijan and on the Eurasian level.
Thanks to the knowledge and abilities I. Huseynov possesses in the field of chemistry and pharmacology, a lot of medicines and healthcare products based on the "White Naftalan" have been received - balms, creams, toothpastes, medical candles, shampoos, gauze pads and wipes, mobile gas cylinders (deodorants) containing "White Naftalan", etc. This area is highly productive, and continues to grow.
